Saito 82
Ive just got a new gasket set and theree is a metal Washer the same size as the two orings provided. both intake manifold pipe.
Where does this metal washer go,? is it a packer between the pipe and engine? how doesit fit?
Cheers?

The manual doesn't show it well, but the stackup is first a black rubber o ring into the engine manifold intake. This should be one made of viton and labelled separately from the other o ring. It should fit easily into the engine. Next is the shiny metal washer. When you put the manifold pipe into the intake, you will see how the shoulder on the manifold pipe pushes the metal washer into the engine for a good seal. Hope this is clear enough.
Another way to do it is to put that metal washer on your manifold pipe and then slowly work the pipe through that black washer and into the intake. The metal ring will fit naturally when you have it all the way in. Be careful to not nick the washer with the edge of the manifold.

Thanks blw. I guessed it may be this way. Now Im unsure which bloody oring was the viton one as I it appears now I have been foolish to assume they are both the same!! Dam Oh well, its a 50/50 i guess the proof will be in the melting but at least the metal washer will hide that now!!!

The Viton O-ring lasts longer at the intake manifold - cylinder junction but a regular O-ring usually lasts a good while. Do not worry.

Hi Gents, I am in process of purchasing my first multi cylinder powerplant, A Saito 270T. And figured this would be the best thread in the universe for information and ideas. And also would like to join club Saito if I may. Looking forward to the great exchange of ideas, thoughts and theories with you all.

What is the recommended fuel tank size for a Saito 1.50 (will go into a Cermark Pitts, 15% nitro, somewhat hard sport aerobatic flying). I noticed Wm Robinson's rule is 1 oz per CI/ minute. What is the general consensus? Thanks/////////

Gary, Bill's numbers are right on providing the low speed needle is set correctly. Twenty oz should give you a good 10 minute and more than enough to land and even blow a couple of landings.

The 2.70 twin is a fine engine and a favorite of mine. I've got three of them mounted on airplanes and all run great. I use McDaniel/SonicTronics glow drivers. There's no engine out there that's easier to start; just prime, turn on the glow power and it's one flip backward against compression and they're off.

I have a Saito 91 and very limited ground clearence, has any one used a APC 12X9 prop or should I use a 12X8. With a 12" prop I will have a hair over 1" ground clearence with trike gear so I really need to stay with the 12" prop.,

The 12x8 or the 12x9 will be fine, but be sure to get it idling low enough, or being able to land might be a bit of a challenge. 8>)
